The caring staff at OCEC believe in using classroom and outdoor activities to “play with a purpose” in centers designed for our children’s special needs.  At Ouachita Child Enrichment Centers we provide an integrated atmosphere that allows children with or without developmental delays to learn and play in a loving, nurturing environment that is supportive of each child’s learning ability and growth development. We have been in operation since September 2000 with expansions in our operation in 2003, 2007, and a recent renovation of the Annex completed in 2020. We strive daily to assist each child in ‘Reaching for the Stars’ by providing them with a loving, kid-friendly atmosphere and curriculum.

All three centers are proud to have attained Better Beginnings quality approval by the state of Arkansas.

Ouachita Child Enrichment Centers are licensed with four state agencies to provide center-based services for children ages birth to three who reside in Ouachita, Union, Columbia, Dallas, Nevada, or Calhoun counties. and our staff is trained in Conscious Discipline as a whole-school solution for social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation.

The Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) program serves children birth three to 5 with a variety of risk factors. It targets 3- and 4-year-olds who live in families with incomes below 200 percent of the federal poverty level and who live in school districts that are in the school improvement status or in which at least 75 percent of children perform poorly on state benchmark exams in math and literacy. Ouachita Child Enrichment ABC serves 40 children from the Camden area using Conscious Discipline as a whole-school solution for social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation. We use the “Adventures in Learning” and “DLM Early Childhood Express” curriculums to provide our children with the tools necessary for successful transition to the public school system. Our ABC program has attained a Better Beginnings quality rating of Level 3.
